Andalucian Police horse on traffic control, Barcelona, Spain
The Andalucian is one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world today. It is also known as the Purebred Spanish Horse or PRE (Pura Raza Espa–ola)and is closely related to the Lusitano breed. Andalucians move with a high, elegant action, which makes them particularly suitable for Haute ƒcole (or High School) dressage. They are used in cattle work and bullfighting in their native Spain. The dramatic look of the horse has made it a popular breed to use in films. Andalucians play the part of Shadowfax in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and Peter's unicorn in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
