The Boer Horse (in Afrikaans, 'boerperd' meaning 'farmer's horse') is a tough horse originating from South Africa which has similar origins to the Basuto horse, both having developed from the Cape Horse in the 19th century. Today, Boer Horses are used as utility horses on farms and for the increasingly popular sport of endurance riding.
