Quantock Hill ponies, Somerset, grazing amongst the bracken

Quantock ponies is not a distinct breed but are of mixed origin. Their ancestory is mostly that of native ponies, and they are strongly influenced by the neighbouring Exmoor pony. The Quantock ponies were introduced to the Quantock area for conservation grazing purposes. They are rounded up every September and brought down from the Hills for the annual sales.
